A good example of this is series of articles with a new way to look at data. Full Disclosure I am one of the authors of this series. I commend the editors at Database Trends and Applications for making publishing this series.
A Call to Action and the American Pastime: Data
They do a number of survey’s each and every year with organizations like Independent Oracle Users Group, Vmware. One of surveys worth mentioning was done with Ntirety:
The Vanishing Database Administrator – Survey
They have people like Kevin Kline, and Craig S. Mullins writing for the publication who I have great respect for. I have been an avid reader for years and contributor from time to time. They have a new publication that comes out 4 times a year. The Big Data Quarterly (BDQ). Right now there is no cost for a charter subscription to the Big Data Quarterly.
